Spring is here at Squishy Faces Pet Lover Gifts

Spring is here! Finally, after a long and nasty winter, Spring has sprung and we here at Squishy Faces Pet Lover Apparel could not be happier. We can finally take our dogs out for walks and let our cats out in the yard, supervised though. Cats like to wander. Who would have guessed that cats are curious? Anyway, with all that said, we thought it would be nice to share some pet care tips for springtime safety.

Easter treats and decorations are, in the easily distracted minds of our pets, way too tempting to not pass up. That is why it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the flowers and candy. We all know that chocolate is toxic to cats and dogs, but did you know certain plants and flowers can also be dangerous? Lilies, daffodils, tulips, begonias call all be dangerous if not deadly to your pet. Here is just a partial list of the many different plants that can harm your cat or dog.

Warm days bring open windows, and if you are like us the moment you open a window you have several cats with their squishy faces up against the screen. Just a tip from someone with experience, make sure those screens are secure so no cat can perform an escape, and lead you on a tri-state high speed interstate chase. That was an interesting mother’s day.

I remember helping my grandma pick and break beans in her garden with the help of her beagle dog, Pooter. Those were the days and just like days gone by, my wife and I still enjoy planting our garden every year. Though with 3 dogs and 12 cats, all rescues by the way, we make sure to place all fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides out of reach of our furry four-legged friends.

For the last couple of weeks, I have been popping a Zyrtec every morning as if my life depended on it, well maybe not my life but defiantly my watery eyes and constant sneezing are better with it.  Like us, pets can be allergic to foods, dust, plants, insects and pollens. Allergic reactions in dogs and cats can cause itching, minor sniffling and sneezing, or even a life-threatening reaction. If you suspect your pet has a springtime allergy, please visit your VET ASAP.

Did you know that there are over a dozen dog diseases that you can actively prevent with vaccination? It is very important that your dog or cat has the proper vaccinations, flea/tick control, and worming medications. I can personally speak for myself, I hate giving our pets pills or medication. I know it’s because they don’t understand the importance of what their human is doing for them. Please, if you are not sure what your pet needs, call your local vet.

OK, this was just a partial list that I compiled from the interwebs. Please do your own research and contact your vet should you have any questions. They are the real authority.

Of course, all that great pet advice that I just gave does come at a price. The advertisement part of the blog. So, without further ado…. Squishy Faces Custom Pet Lover Apparel is still happy to be providing custom pet themed t-shirts, hoodies, hats, shoes, outerwear, shorts, pet accessories and much more at a very reasonable price.

Have a great spring, everyone!

I love when the Spring flowers start sprouting and blooming. Now if I could just find a way to keep my silly dogs from lifting their legs to pee on them I would be all set….Ha Ha….
