Meet Achilles our first sponsored K-9


We would like to introduce Achilles, he will be our first sponsored K-9 for the German Shepherd shirts.  Please read his bio below:

K-9 Achilles a German Shepherd, was born Mak von der Daelenberghutte February 24th 2013 in Beringen, Belgium. Achilles joined the City of Amesbury Massachusetts Police Department and his partner Officer Thomas (Tommy) Nichols in February of 2014 . In June 2014 Achilles completed the 14 week Boston Police Canine Academy Basic Patrol Course where he learned the disciplines of Tracking, Suspect Building Searches, Evidence Searches, Agility, Suspect Apprehension, Handler Protection, Suspect Area Searches and Obedience. In the fall of 2014 Achilles completed the 12 week Worcester Police Basic Narcotic Detection Course where he learned to detect the odors of Heroin, Cocaine, Methamphetamine and Marijuana and MDMA.

Achilles went on to nationally certify in Patrol and Drug detection through the United States Police Canine Association and the International Police Work Dog Association. Since then Achilles has competed and won in regional K-9 Trials in the north east.

Achilles and Officer Nichols are currently assigned to the North East Massachusetts Law enforcement Council (NEMLEC) Regional Response Team (RRT) which supports 59 Cities and Towns in Essex and Middlesex Counties and are frequently called upon to assist NEMLEC SWAT during high risk missions.
